AUTHOR RACHAEL HANEL |
 |
Thursday,
May 16
3 p.m. - Orchard Hill Assisted
Living, 1223 Karl Dr., New Ulm
6 p.m. - Library Meeting Room
Minnesota author
Rachael Hanel will discuss and read from her
new book, "We'll Be the Last Ones to Let You
Down: Memoir of a Gravedigger's Daughter,"
about her childhood in Waseca. From
publisher the University of Minnesota Press:
This book presents the unique, moving
perspective of a gravedigger’s daughter and
her lifelong relationship with death. It is
also a masterful meditation on the living
elements of our cemeteries: our neighbors,
friends, and families and how these things
come together in the eyes of a young girl
whose childhood is suffused with death and
the wonder of the living.
This
project is made possible by a grant provided
by the Traverse des Sioux Library System and
was funded in part or in whole with money
from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage
Fund. |
