Who can participate?

The NUPL Summer Reading Program is open to anyone from ages 1 to 12 who wants to read and have fun. The goal for successful completion of this program is for each participant to read for at least 30 minutes (or be read to for about 20 minutes) on 25 different days between June 3 and July 25.

Participating is easy. Here’s how:

STEP 1.
Come to the Library and fill out a registration card. You will receive a "Dig Into Reading" summer reading record.

STEP 2.
For each day that you read for at least 30 minutes (or listen to someone read to you for about 20 minutes), you color in one bookworm on your bookmark.

STEP 3.
After coloring in five bookworms on the bookmark, cut out the bookmark and bring it back to the library where there is a special activity waiting for you.

STEP 4.
When you have reached the 25-day goal, you will become eligible to enter our drawing to win one of 10 grand prizes. This year, winners will be notified by phone.

Major funding for the 2013 Summer Reading Program has been provided by the Friends of the New Ulm Public Library, a grant from the Minnesota Book Awards, a grant from the Carl & Verna Schmidt Foundation, a grant from the Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative through the Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund, and a grant from 3M of New Ulm.
